Yellow Christmas

The mild December weather is really confusing some plants. The daffodils in our garden had had yellowing flower buds on them for some time and I was confident some would be open on Christmas Day.

It seems that I had been watching the wrong group of plants, as these were wide open on 23 December, and were probably open on the previous day, the official first day of winter.

Photographing them was problematic. We have had almost continuous, gusting, strong winds for many days. Some of the flower stalks were bent to be almost horizontal. Others were moving about violently most of the time. I didn't want to use flash and I did want f16.

I had two sessions, one in, sunlight, with harsh lighting, the other in diffuse lighting. All but this frame were too blurred to use. It is not the best shot of a daffodil ever but it is my first usable one in December.
