CSS Homepage Branding

I'm new to smug mug. I'd like to have my logo appear when first arrive to my site and then fade away. I don't know anything about css or coding and I think this is probably hows it's done. I'm looking for step by step way to do this.

    Not exactly what you are asking for but if you are willing to use a slideshow on your homepage you can add a splash page that only shows for a specified amount of time when first going to the website. One thing that "might" work (I haven't tried this) is to set the number of slideshow photos to one, and the transition time to zero. Hopefully, this causes it to just display the single image continuously after the splash (logo) disappears.

    You can see the splash in use on my homepage, though not for a logo.
