Hope you don't mind, but I've actually got 2 for the year. Both shots were taken at Koteewi County Park, Hamilton County, Indiana. Happy New Year to all.

Thanks for starting this thread Joel!

I set out to select a top 10 but like last year I ended up with 13 favorites, split almost evenly between landscapes and flowers. I hope it's OK that I'm one over your request for 12.

Here are my favorite 12 - I hope it's ok that they aren't all landscapes or nature (since we're in the Landscapes forum...)

    In chronological order...

    1) Water spout -courtyard of the Maximilian Museum, Augsburg, Germany

    3) La Morra, Italy (Piemonte)

    20150526_183_DMC-G5-X2.jpg

    4) While not a particularly great photo, this is a favorite because it captures the essence of my favorite summer evening event - bicycling along the Wertach river ner Augsburg (that's my bike in the foreground)

    20150605_012_DMC-G5-XL.jpg

    5) Another favorite bike-ride place of mine, this little lake lies in a nature reserve south of town (Augsburg, Germany)

    20150607_006_DMC-G5-X2.jpg

    6) Roses, always a favorite subject of mine

    20150720_099_DMC-G5-X2.jpg

    8) Sunset over the Dordogne river valley, France

    20150723_323_DMC-G5-X2.jpg

    9) Children playing in the Miroir d'eau, Bordeaux, France

Every year I think it should be easy to pick a top 10 - but I know better! It's definitely an interesting exercise though.

    Hi everyone and Happy 2016!

I am slow but sure revisiting my photography hobby.

I thought I would post a couple from touring around Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City Michigan. A couple of images from the wineries.

Love the children in the water shot!

By the way, it looks like you loaded the photos into your favorites gallery. I used to do that as well, but I've switched to tagging my favorites with a keyword and then creating a smart gallery based on that keyword. That allowed me to select photos and fine-tune my selection.

    Hello all,

First, thanks everyone for all of the positive comments. I have really been enjoying all of the other entries as well - you guys are all terriffic!

    @Denise:
By the way, it looks like you loaded the photos into your favorites gallery. I used to do that as well, but I've switched to tagging my favorites with a keyword and then creating a smart gallery based on that keyword. That allowed me to select photos and fine-tune my selection.

Yes, I created shortcuts to the (SM) originals in the Favorites folder. I'm fairly anal about my keywords :D and since Lightroom is my "master" I only create keywords in Lightroom and don't create keywords for what is actually a rating. Unfortunately SmugMug can't base Smart Gallery settings on ratings. I'm pretty sure I've already put in a feature request for this.

It surprisingly didn't take much time at all to go through my 2015 galleries and shortcut the chosen pictures to the Favorites gallery. Many roads lead to Rome... :D Thanks for the tip, though! I always appreciate your help.

    Cheers,

    Sara

I do my keywords in Lightroom as well, but I break that rule for my top photos. I find it's helpful to be able to build a keyword gallery and then add and remove photos once I see the set together.

S n D ... thx for commenting / glad it appealed somehow. S ... reality was indeed a serene scene.
Had limited gear with me that hol, and once I realised there was a windfarm in the west, I was there most eves trying to get something vaguely acceptable.
The vista this partic eve after sun had disappeared (with tide out) was 'wall to wall' as shown in this very small portion (500 + 7Dm2)
No tripod, so gear on top of an electrical control box using stuff scrounged from a local builder's skip as a crude turntable to provide option for multiple frame panos.

Building the tripod-ish thing on the spot to shoot panos with 500mm....no easy feat!
