Took a recent trip to Death Valley with my old pal kdog. Our trip originally was planned for five of us meeting up together but ended up just being kdog and I. We met up in Florence Junction and used Texas Springs Campground as our base for three days. We didn't get any color for sunrises or much of the day but the clouds did roll in around sunset each evening offering a little bit of color. Here are a few of my shots.

1. Sunrise in Mesquite Dunes

3. Sunrise in Cotton Ball Basin

What fun it must have been! I love DV around this time of the year! Too bad you didn't get nicer light.
    #1, #2 and #6 are awesome!
    Cheers!

Nice comps at Cottonball Basin, Aaron. Shooting was tough there and I'm not particularly happy with what I came away with. That Zabriske shot has some serious layer action. :wow

Good to see you again and great shooting with you as always! thumb.gif

Wow, great shots - although I really liked the sediment shot a lot I think my favorites were the two abstracts 4 & 5.

    Cheers, Sara

Thanks for the view over your shoulder - you make me realize I need to schedule another trip west, love Death Valley.

These are my favorites of your shots. The view of Zabriskie Point is wonderful.

Thank you sir. Yeah, was pretty bummed about the light this time around. Will have to try and plan better next time.

Thanks Don. Death Valley is a great park with a lot of variety, which can be both good and bad. Definitely a place you should get to a couple times though.

Thanks Marcelo. I personally do most of my travel and shooting in the winter. Temps in DV are great this time of year. One of the benefits of winter shooting is usually smaller crowds, unfortunately that wasn't the case with DV the time frame I was there.

Yeah- it is funny how we get different things shooting in the same area. I could have walked around that basin all day if the light would have been good. Thanks for meeting up with me and showing me around. I'll make it back up there at some point to do some more exploring in hopefully better lighting conditions.

Thank you Sara! I enjoy shooing the abstracts as much as the landscapes and DV offers some great abstract opportunities.

#'s 2 & 6 for me. Great depth with the Zabriske shot. Dune abstracts are some of my favorite from DV, or anywhere similar. Glad you both didn't freeze to death.

#6 for sure! This one stands out! I also like the b/w version. I cannot imagine the climate difference from now and in the summer!
