Date Taken sort does not work for GIF's

OK, finally got the Date Taken to be accepted in a GIF (thread here but you can ignore that I think).

But ... unless I'm just going blind -- it does not sort properly when sorting by Date Taken.

Please see This Gallery

The gallery is set to sort by Date Taken.

If you look at the first two photos:

First, a GIF: Date taken = 2015-12-22 20:36:11
Second, not-Gif, Date taken = 2015-12-22 19:15:01

All the rest of the images are correctly in ascending Date Taken order. The GIF comes out first, even though (now, finally) the Date Taken shows correctly.

And I did delete and re-upload the GIF (not replace) today just before sending this. But regardless, it actually shows a Date Taken now, but isn't sorting by it.

Bug?

We just pushed an update to the way that Date Taken is sorted. We'll now use all the metadata fields, not just the EXIF information. This makes it so that GIF's, PNG's, and videos can sort within as well. Additionally, we're not sorting by subsecond, so if 2 images are taken at exactly the same time, we sort by filename.

Let me know if it works for you or if there's still an issue.

The videos straight from my 7D show a date created as the d/l time off camera.
Actual created date/time shows as date modified.

Converting with MPEG_Streamclip for upload shows both created and modified a later time?

I could sort by file name but Canon names vidoes as MVI_xxxx not IMG_xxxx.
So filename sort would not work without renaming videos from MVI_xxxx to IMG_xxxx.
The _xxxx is unique so this could solve to sort problem for videos.

I do rename videos so at least the create date is preserved in filename.
    MVI_2417_7D2-2_01-29-16 Orig.MOV
    MVI_2417_7D2-2_01-29-16.MOV
So quess I could change to IMG also.

Ever since you've implemented this change I am unable to organise my smart galleries of JPEGs by time/date. I use Photoshop but don't change any EXIF data. Can you please sort this out? it worked fine before this change!

    Hi brilliantbert,
Would you be willing to send me a few links to some of your smart galleries that aren't sorting properly by date taken? I had our QA team test smart galleries and they appear to be sorting by date, so I'd love to dig further into your concerns.
