Nice work! I'm not usually fond of HDRs that tend to be "cartoonish" for lack of a better term, but this one works. Well done.

What does ND filter HDR mean? You overlaid multiple exposures shot using ND filter?
I have same exact sentiment as Cristobal above.......usually allergic to HDR but this one is very appealing and dramatic!clap.gif

I have no qualms about HDR, just about how some people use it, but I have to say that this one doesn't ring true for me. Part of that is due to the fact that the reflections in the water are brighter than the sky, which doesn't happen.

Very nice composition, lighting, and sky Wayne... dramatically cool!
I agree with Don though, regarding photo-accuracy... and, I see ghosting/artifacts around some of the poles on the bridge.

Hi Wayne, For the record I am also not a huge HDR fan. I love the angle and the light in this picture but like Eric find it ghost-y, so for me on the whole it doesn't quite work, even though it's certainly not an over-the-top HDR.

Like Taz, I'm curious to know how you did the HDR.

    Cheers, Sara

I don't notice ghosting, but the light doesn't seem real. You would never see the detail of the beams supporting the underside of the roadway unless there was a strong light source from below. As Sara said, it's not a push-the-sliders-to-11 HDR, but it does have the HDR look nevertheless. I like the comp. Do you have a single frame version?

Thanks Richard...really appreciate your thoughts here.
This is a single frame shot...same series of exposures.
    Thanks again!

The wonderful golden side-light carries the image well.

I also prefer the single frame, though I think you could get some more drama out of the sky if you work it some.

I applaud your experimenting, Wayne. Like others, I'm not fond of most of the HDR work I've seen. In this case here, my monitor shows ghosting all over the place. Your additional image ( single frame ) is far more preferable to my eyes. As I said, though, experimentation can be critical to growth as a photographer. Keep up the good work.

    Take care,

    Tom

I think HDR images are fantasy by definition....and anything can happen in a fantasy!
    Cheers all!

HDR is just another tool to me. Since Lightroom came out with the HDR merge feature, I've posted several HDRs here that I don't think were recognized as such. I've often posted images in which multiple exposures were combined in Photoshop, usually with luminosity masks, and that's a kind of HDR.

Don, I should have said, images where HDR look (like the first one here) is intended are fantasy images. Probably even this verbiage is not the right one, but there are those images where you immediately say it has HDR look. Sometimes it works. Like car shows etc....nice fantasy vibe.

The HDR used to simply deal with dynamic range to get exposure right is different and if done well impossible to catch.
