I got this image using my variable ND filter...ugh. 1st time really using it it and it only happens at the "darker" settings. A google search later turns up this is not uncommon for variable ND filters! Who knew?:scratch What a waste. I guess time to invest in some regular ND filters.

In my view, it will happen if you go beyond the marked filter setting. Because it keeps twisting it is easy end up going beyond whatever it might be N1-N8 and going beyond N8 marker. Hope you stayed there long enough to just go long when light is short. Cheers Daniel!
