Good day,

I'm working on my SmugMug website and I want to have full-screen slideshow on my "Homepage". Now the photographs are too big and subjects are not appearing on good placement on the browser space.

The url is https://voffvoff.smugmug.com/ if you want to see how it looks now.

So I'm thinking if you need to create special gallery for the photographs you want to show on this full-screen slideshow and size the photos properly for that use. If so, what (pixel) size would be best?

Any advice is appreciated. :)

Sincerely,
Stefan

The key is the aspect ratio. Portrait (tall, narrow) images won't work well on a landscape computer screen. Choose your background images carefully and put them in their own unlisted gallery with max size set to original. You'll probably will want to limit the maximum viewing size of your public galleries to something smaller.

For size, I'd stick with uploading the full size images and let smugmug scale them for display.

    +1 on what pilotdave said

Remember what you see on YOUR screen will not necessarily be the same for others due to the massive variation in devices and screen resolutions.
What you want is for your website to be responsive to all of these screens (so don't lock in a slideshow that HAS to be displayed at xxxxpixels by yyyyypixels

You can use this simulator to get an idea of what your website looks like on a variety of devices and screens: http://quirktools.com/screenfly/
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.
