Looking into the Coachella Valley, CA from Keys View, Joshua Tree N.P.
Palm Springs, Salton Sea, Indio, and other valley communities lay below.

Salton Sea can just be seen in the distance.

    Cheers Eric!
    Thanks Taz!
Yes, a long view is possible... tho, pretty much only under the best non-hazy conditions.
It was fairly good that day as a big storm had gone-through the day and night before.
It was refreshing up there for sure - 30deg. F and 30mph. winds... brrrrrrrr! (California cold :D).

    Thank-you Joel!
Joshua Tree is nice... different though, than Death Valley, due to the higher elevation and different geology.
I think it's a bit harder in JT (for me anyway) to get compositions like the awesome and dramatic shots that you posted from DV recently...
I'd love to see what magic you (and Taz!) could conjure down here. thumb.gif

    Thanks so much Richard!
I was hoping to be there closer to the golden hours but it worked-out fairly well with the storm remnants giving dramatic skies.

Thank-you Cristóbal, I appreciate the feedback!
This part of the Southwest is not considered to be as "sexy" as the GC and the other canyon-lands, so, it's always a challenge to find light and scenes that have impact.

Hi Eric, I like this set, especially the play of the light and clouds in the second and third shots. As you said, the area isn't as photogenic as other parts of the Southwest and I find you did a great job with a challenging subject.

    Cheers, Sara

#3 for me! They are all great though! That is some serious landscapes. A great sky to boot! Love this area as well. so how far to the edge did you 'really' get? mwink.gif

Thanks much Sara, for the look and commenting!
    I often - jokingly - refer to my region as *scenery-challenged*... :D

    Thanks AnnaMaria!
Kinda' looks like parts of your Arid-zona, huh... :D
I'm generally pretty skeered of heights, so, I didn't actually get very close to the edge... looks like it though, huh? wings.gif
