All wonderful captures. #3 is outstanding and I love the bat shot as well. Bats are so hard to shoot - at least ours are - they are way too fast for me! Would you mind sharing what gear you used - specifically your lens?

Thank you
1, 2, 4, 8 and 9 are D800 with 500mm VR all handheld
the rest are D3s with 300mm AFS F4 and 1.4 TC, also all handheld
Small birds in flight can be challenging to capture, but bats, WOW!! Darn near impossible.
The bat image looks like it was shot on a very bright day ( when bats are usually sleeping ). Was it really that bright, or is that a demonstration of how capable modern DSLRs are in low light with their high ISO capability?
Geez, Brian - these are simply terrific in-flight shots. Trying to get crisp photos of Swallows, Kingfishers, etc. always makes my neck hurt from trying swivel around quickly enough to keep up with them. Nicely done.
Thank you everyone and sorry for the late reply
as for the bat photo, yes this was shot in the middle of the afternoon in bright sunlight, he was chasing mosquitoes,it is only the second time that i can remember seeing a bat out during daylight hours so it does happen
as for the kingfishers, i surprised even myself by being able to follow the action
Outstanding sharpness and colors. The bat shot is incredible!
