I have a prospective customer who would like to purchase multiple photos from two different athletic events, each event in it's own gallery. She is not yet reviewed them all (there are ~ 500 photos for each event, only some of her son and his teammates).

Based on what she chooses we'll then figure out the best package for her. Is there a way for her on the smugmug site to choose and save her choices so that I can see what her selections are? Can she for instance put each one in her cart and then can I view the contents of her cart before she purchases? These would be downloads btw..I searched around for a while for the answer, could not find it. I did log in as an anonymous viewer and can see that if I have cookies turned on my cart contents get saved, but not sure as the smugmug site owner that I would be able to see the contents.

Thanks!

    Hi Glen,

The contents of the cart are only stored locally, in the viewer's browser, as a cookie. It's not possible for an account owner to see the contents of a client's cart at this time, sorry. But, another option you might want to explore is our Events feature: http://help.smugmug.com/customer/en/portal/articles/83125-how-do-i-create-and-share-events-?b_id=1644

This feature allows you to create Events (which can be a selection of galleries) and you can create Event Participants as well. Each participant gets a special link, which allows them to tag their Favorites. Their favorites are collected into a special gallery that both you and your client can view. This would give you a way to see feedback from a client as to which images they want.

Josh, thanks for the quick reply. I'll experiment with that, but this is a sale in motion so don't want to cause further complexity for the client. I changed the gallery style to the smugmug default so it shows 1/173, 2/173, etc..and just have her note the gallery name and image number. A friend who also uses smugmug does it by image file name, his show up below each thumbnail. I could not get that to work, but I suspect that it might have to do with the file name length, mine are quite long, his are short. Is there a limitation on the file name length and whether it will show or not?

    Thanks,

    Hi Glen,

To have your filename show you'll want to make sure that you toggle on Show Filenames. You'll find this in the gallery settings under APPEARANCE. When toggled on this setting will allow your filenames to show in the caption field when there is not a caption present.
