Customization Questions

I've spent the afternoon redoing my site with a new theme, but I've run into a couple issues.

1. I will only be using this as my marketing site, all ordering will be via another site. I would like all the buttons on my galleries to go away. I found Aaron's code for 2 and am guessing the "Download All" is in the gallery itself. Where does the code go though? Haven't been able to find that.

2. I will have some galleries that I want behind the scenes, but not on the home page. Currently, one of my unlisted galleries is showing on the Homepage in the design and preview mode. How do I make it disappear?

3. Also, my header on the "Internet tab" needs to be changed, which I assume is in the site information and is carrying over from the previous site. Does this sound correct and, if so, where do I change that once the site is finished?

Check out 1 & 2 logged off your site.
With download turned off, you logged in will always see it, visitors will not.
The only way* , logged off, to see (in folders) or get to an unlisted gallery is with the direct link.
    * Sharegroups are the only exception.

Will it let me see the changes without it being published yet? It's not live so not sure I'm going to get to see the new format.

You, logged in, see whatever the changes are, visitors only see the old site.
Other then the bar across the top, everything below is the new site.

But I've got to publish the new site, to see what vistors will actually see, correct?

As far as I know, yes.

As Allen said, your unlisted galleries will not show when you are not logged in.

I did follow the link in your signature and it appears that on your current site you have a folder called "WebSite" that contains nothing. I suspect the galleries in it are unlisted - you should set the folder to unlisted as well.

If you haven't already done this on your unpublished changes, you should also remove the smugmug header and change to the mini footer. To do that, click Customize... Content and Design, then click the settings button. Then change the SmugMug Header and Footer options.

Thanks Denise. I'll make those changes.

I think my link needs to be updated too. Should be www.blendedlightphotography.com.

    Both URLs work...

One more comment - if you're going to continue using thumbnail style and using smugmug-style galleries with square thumbs you should be aware that the square thumbs are cutting off people's heads. That's not an optimal display choice for portrait-oriented photos. I know it's probably a Denise-idiosyncracy but that's something that tempts me to immediately leave the page.

Another great suggestion. I haven't moved into gallery settings yet, just trying to start with the display pages on then move on.

As a suggestion though, it would be nice be be able to do a client preview without having to go live with the site. As is, I would/could be publishing something that isn't finished yet which could hurt marketing efforts. Just a suggestion.

Embedding a suggestion for change into a customization thread probably won't get your suggestion noticed by the folks at SmugMug. If you want to make a suggestion it should be posted either in the SmugMug Feature Requests forum here at dgrin or at http://feedback.smugmug.com/.

I suspect the feedback page is preferred because it allows others to vote on the ideas.
