The Spirit of Latourell

Yet another re-work...., tried to be more subtle this time. This is a slightly longer SS than I normally like, but the water didn't blow out and the resulting effect on the downpour gave a very spirit like look to the waterfall. I think this is perfect for the naming of this image as every so often there is invariably somebody who falls from the top of the falls whilst peeking over the edge. Very grim, but while I am visiting, I always wonder how many spirits roam the base of the falls.

I think this is one of my favorite falls in the Gorge with the Kryptonic basalt rock formations and the lush green plants. I love being the only one there on a warm and early indian summer morning to feel the cool kiss of mist from the falls.

Great comp and light in that one. I missed LaTourell when I visited last year. Had no idea there were basalt stacks in the canyon.
