This is the first of the season. Unfortunately, some of its appendages are hidden by the edge of a petal.
The first two (cropped) shots were with the Kiorn 105mm and twin flash
The last one was with the Printing Nikkor 150mm and triple flash. It is rather soft but gives some idea of the dorsal view.

Thanks for both your comments. I can't fully explain, even to myself, quite what was so awkward with the first session but it included the bug acting almost like a black hole for light. Weird!

Thanks, Brian.
Do you think this is the winter form of the Green Shield-bug?
Harold
Having searched images, this does seem to be a winter form of The Common Green Shield-bug Palomena prasina.
I have a further series from today, this time using triple flash. If they are as good as they seem to be, I will start a new topic for them.
