Getting comments in Collage Landscape

This is not a "How do I do this" so much as a "Suggestions on what to do"...
Has anyone had any real success in getting comments in collage landscape? i have the comment box at the bottom, and it is extremely rare that anyone leaves comments.
Some of it, I am convinced, is the lack of ability to leave comments anonomously.
But I spent some time just browsing around my site and a few others and am starting to wonder if it is just plain too obscure. In my case, a typical gallery has a hundred or so shots. You have to scroll down pretty far to even see it (assuming you put it at the bottom). And once there what do you see? A silhouette of a head and a box, and underneath but not obviously connected "no comments".
I just wonder how many people never notice it at all, and of those how many people actually realize that the silhouette is actually "Enter comment here".
To try to stay mobile and small screen friendly I do not really want this at the top of the page or worse the side. I can probably add CSS to change the silhouette to the word "Enter Comments" but that might not fix the "who gets down that far" issue.
You can comment on photos but only in lightbox (seems like it might be easy to put a comment bubble on each shot like was not too long ago done for download), not sure if that would actually help as I do not see how one could show other comments there (and other comments are often what spur people on).
I appreciate comments to try to understand what people want to see. I can see from google analytics (and less so from statistics here) how many people are visiting, but feedback is always helpful. The level has dropped by a factor of 5 or 10 since the "no more anonymous" but that is also when I switched to collage landscape. Not sure which is the bigger effect.
Anyone having any luck with other techniques to get people to actually comment? Specifically in the Collage Landscape?
Anyone changed back and forth between it and other forms, and did you get more?
