An Optical Illusion

This is a Cathay Pacific 747-400 going eastbound high over northern Canada. Likely destination being Kennedy Airport. He is at 37,000 feet and about 1,000 feet beneath us.

Look closely at the left side of his tail. The way the light reflected makes it appear that part of his tail is missing. It's an optical illusion of course but made for an interesting photo.

    Hi Ian - Actually neither - I am an Operations Manager for a major international airline and was in the jump seat..Interesting photo..huh? One of my pilots said it best - "Oops guess they didn't do their pre-flight"..hoho

    oh my lands is that ever something! Never mind the missing tail..... it's Like the fingers of God holding the jet. This is awesome
