Hi Cannon Images. How may I help you?

Cannon Images 04:53:57 pm

Hi, I just bought a web address from GoDaddy like it was suggested, and it won't load me into the search engine ,, or it won't let me "verify" my account

Anthony 04:54:37 pm

Load you into the search engine, what do you mean by that?

Cannon Images 04:54:54 pm

google veification
that people can look up your web site
i have the number to enter but won't accept my google password

Anthony 04:56:56 pm

I'm not sure, let me see what I can find out.

Cannon Images 04:57:57 pm

on account settings, verify your site

Anthony 04:59:03 pm

Are you referring to the verify site ownership on this page https://secure.smugmug.com/settings/?nick=CANNONIMAGES#section=search

Anthony 05:00:34 pm

Anthony 05:04:29 pm

Let me see what I can find out.

Cannon Images 05:05:11 pm

google-site-verification: google7aea56ba229e503b.html i tried entering

Anthony 05:05:56 pm

Are you changing the DNS settings in GoDaddy?

Cannon Images 05:06:35 pm

yes
no, just verification

Anthony 05:08:40 pm

Try adding a TXT record and point it to what google tells you to point it to. It would look something like this. https://d1ro8r1rbfn3jf.cloudfront.net/ms_51306/he8DEPBq2mE5V84h1X70qVbNDWljms/Hover%2B-%2BManage%2BDomain%2BDns%2B2016-03-18%2B14-06-16.jpg?Expires=1458421646&Signature=Y7gUECG-AuJuBSI7IJ~ooRc97cEG~rhnPYrco-buUIXTiQsE5Fp6MzxjngEW~bO2UACQx-0WM~kidQ0YKxVdmiud335UImtrgvzzPIa1RrO-mzABhYO0f7dRk5Tw6tT8waw8~hq4NPpr2FtQuE-SgdpEMSBxs8HZSK-5D7wMrmo6xy0hcLGnsq~o-MVRpwH70~RcBYIsVDpUyrlVjSmVH-rTW64QVvy~Q0PXLVKJ4Ayfp3fEsVJCcN2JeG5Jdq4RxJrbWfFnAkpzM2KaHC1tgsnK6~Vklky9PTmUlXcE-WFHv6aa3ve5ZHU17h-NVcw7UaPSC6V7TBLj6w6hklj9XA__&Key-Pair-Id=APKAJHEJJBIZWFB73RSA

Cannon Images 05:09:58 pm

where do i get it, I am on smumug's godaddy

Anthony 05:11:50 pm

You would get it from google webmaster tools.

Cannon Images 05:16:28 pm

i don't know where to go

Anthony 05:17:31 pm

I'm not that familiar with webmaster tools. Let me see what I can find out.

Cannon Images 05:20:14 pm

it says on smug mug to verify ownership, i bought it from your go daddy web site because it said it would set all up for me
in discovery then, search, then you are suppose to verify ownership to get found on searches on the web

Anthony 05:23:24 pm

Ok this is what I was given. http://take.ms/5GXUs and https://slack-redir.net/link?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.google.com%2Fwebmasters%2Fanswer%2F35179%3Fhl%3Den&v=3

Cannon Images 05:27:50 pm

are you my domain provider?

Anthony 05:28:14 pm

No that would be GoDaddy.

Verifying your Google Account has nothing to do with the ability of people finding you in the search engines.

I just had a similar problem verifying my site (as Mike says this has nothing to do with finding your site. I just wanted to verify my site in order to get access to Google webmaster keywords)

My problem was trying to login to "Godaddy"
We eventually realised we should have trying to login to "Smugmug Domains powered by Godaddy" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    http://smugdomains.smugmug.com/

This is apparently different from "Godaddy"
Maybe you are in the same position that I was?
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.

yes, yet i thought it was stated if you bought it through them they would get you noticed on the web contrary to which was stated by the other quote. I don't know, the real godaddy is better?

Yes, you should go through all of the recommended steps to get noticed by search engines, but I don't believe the registrar you use makes any difference in findability - it's the content of your site that matters.
