How to have slideshow with 2 images per page - think scrapbook

I've sat with the gallery customizer for hours here and can't figure this out to save my life.

Here's what I've done. I've scanned in a paper photo scrapbook and I want it displayed in a similar way. Again, think a book, with two images side by side and I want to "flip" or hit the right button to go to the next two images. The images should be full screen to the browser just like a normal slideshow. How can I do this? It's weird that the slideshow settings dont let you choose how many images per "slide".

Any thoughts are appreciated. FYI - I've been a smugmugger now for 8 years and this is the first time I haven't been able to figure something like this out, so any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Nate

I don't think you are going to like my solution ... and hopefully some-one with a LOT more skill than me will chime in.
What I did was to to create photos for my slideshow that were a composite of two (sometimes three images).
Did each one manually ... so it isn't a solution that is flexible or automatic. I have to create each new slide manually.

This is not what you wanted but have you thought about placing two slideshow content blocks next to each other.
If you don't want an user control, you could then set each to have the same transition time.

As I said you probably don't want to do what I do ... good luck with your problem (I will be interested in the final solution)
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.

    AceCo55,

Thanks for the response; it's appreciated. As a long time user and one who hasn't leveraged Smugmug's resources, I'm a bit frustrated that I haven't received more responses. For the time being, I've done what you said, which is to use a free Windows application called "PhotoScape" to put the two photos side by side as a new photo, but this is ridiculous. It now LOOKS how I want in slideshow mode, except that I want the slideshow "auto next slide" to be off or paused by default. (I want people to flip forward when they are ready). If anyone can't help me with the above solution, hopefully there is some JavaScript or something I can put in my page that will at least allow for this.

JavaScript is not supported in SmugMug customizations.

While I thank you for your quick response and information, this didn't help provide me a solution. Is there a way to turn off the auto forwarding? Perhaps a URL parameter that can be passed to say autoplay=off or something of the sorts?

One thought might be to edit the slideshow settings
(Customise > Content & Design > Home Page > click on the wrench for the "slideshow" content block (in list on right hand side of screen))

Under the "Playback" tab enter a large number of seconds (say 60 seconds)
Then under the "Controls" tab, turn the "navigation arrows" to ON

Then the slideshow will "appear" to wait for the visitor to click on the "next" arrow (even though it WILL automatically change after 60 seconds). Maybe worth a try?

    Another option might be this:
    Thanks to JerryR ...
Try adding a carousel slideshow to your home page.
Add content type - photos - carousel.
