just arrived: my digital rebel XT with 17-85 lens.....woo woo. it's bigger than my S2 IS, that's fer sure. i feel both like i have come full circle, since i started with an SLR in college years ago...and like i am starting over again, loving the digital aspect but learning the camera all over. and i much prefer sitting at my computer with photoshop, rather than being in the basement with my enlarger, which i sold a long time ago.......

wheeeee.....life is good. can't wait for the battery to charge.

btw, i got a 2 gig disc with it ($30 rebate, plus rebate on the camera)

hmm, how shall i break the news to hubby.......

:D

Congrats, Laurie! It will take a little getting used to (if you're brand new to digital SLR's) but you'll love it once you get it all figured out! I also have the XT and it's a fun little cam...takes some seriously good pics, too (though I wish I could say the same for myself, Laughing.gif!). I also started with the 17-85 IS USM lens and I love it! The wide angle is great! I also have a 70-300 IS USM and that covers about all the bases for now (well...I would like a good macro, but the tele lens does a fair job of capturing macro, too!).

Anyhow, Hooray for us grammas going digital! Does that make us cool or ???

    Cheers!

Well...yer right about USM being the unsharp mask in photoshop. But then Canon had to go and confuse us even more by using it as a term for their lenses. I believe it means 'ultra sonic motor' which means the lens has a built in motor drive...or something like that, Laughing.gif! I'm still learning, too, so shhhhh....don't quote me ;)
