What lens do you recommend for Canon. I am looking to do ring shot at a wedding.

100mm f2.8L macro lens - One of the best there is. Great portrait lens too. It doesn't do super macro but pretty good with crop body.

I define a "true" macro as a prime lens with 1:1 reproduction ratio. A "true" macro lens is generally pretty good image quality by most manufacturers. I use a Tamron SP 90mm, f2.8 (in EF mount), a very old micro-motor AF "true" 1:1 macro lens. AF is pretty slow for portraiture, but for macro images of still subjects it works fine.

I greatly prefer a macro focal length of around 90mm - 150mm just because that has sufficient distance from the subject to allow external lighting with considerable variations in light angles. Any shorter focal length and light placement may be problematic. Longer focal lengths tend to be heavy and expensive.

For wedding ring images I also use lenses with "close focus" capabilities, and even lenses with a close-focus diopter attached to the front.

Canon true macro lenses that I recommend:
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro

    Third-Party lenses I recommend:
Tamron SP 90mm F/2.8 Di VC USD 1:1 Macro (current)
Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8 Di Macro (current)

Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro (current)
Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro (current)

Tentatively (I haven't researched this lens):
    Tokina 100mm f/2.8 AT-X M100 AF Pro D Macro (current)

For close focus applications I hear good things about the:
Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM

With a reproduction ratio of 1:1.4 this standard FF zoom lens can pull off some macro duties, especially used on a crop 1.6x/APS-C body like the Canon 7D Mark II or 80D.

I have used a Canon 77mm 500D Close-up Diopter accessory lens on a Canon 70-200mm, f2.8L zoom with some success. (Yep, it's very heavy and I'll normally choose something else.)

Unless you want to get into macro, for a one-off and occasional use, why not invest a small sum in an Opteka x 10 HD supplementary, for the filter size of your most suitable lens?

If you've already got/ using something like a 24/105 f4, and this is for the occasional gig, investing in some extension tubes might be worth considering?
