great concept, great shot! My question is, how did you get the sharp area on the right edge and the motion in the rest?

It is a normal picture of rust. I used PicMonkey, through Smugmug edit, with a radial blur (edit: focal zoom), and then smoothed it with yet another PicMonkey tool.

This is cool! I can't even get smugmug to crop a shot and certainly don't have any monkeys helping me out! Cheers!

Then you can just go to the PicMonkey site and most of it is free. It is an upload/download model. There is a PicMonkey Royale level that has more options and that is a membership thing. But there is some super cool options at no charge. Of course, if you have PS, Elements or PSP, Gimp, etc., then those can do all the fun stuff as well.

I then smoothed it with an additional blur tool.

Thanks! I just confirmed that the PicMonkey website free tool is there and it works the same. Lots of stuff has been added since the last time I checked it out. Lots of good tutorials on their site as well. The only difference between the SM included PicMonkey and the free online version is the display of ads in the lower and right sides with online usage. There also might be a picture size limit with the free on-line PM.

The engine is the same. When using the included (higher level) SM PicMonkey edit mode within SM lightbox, you are actually using the upload/download PicMonkey web server. Editing speed is the same. Royale is included with the premium SM level(s). But 90% of their tools and effects are the same.
