If the name you want to use is available you can change it at any time.

Are you planning to change your smugmug url or add a custom url?

Keep in mind that if you change lynn.smugmug.com to atmospheres.smugmug.com that all of the links that people have to your site will be broken.

Thanks Denise. Not sure what I want to do really... probably should keep it as it is.. if I do decide to change it can it be done through smugmug?

Yes, to change your smug URL, go to Account Settings, Me tab, ACCOUNT, Site URL.

My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.

Another option is to buy a domain name and have it redirected to your site. That way if someone clicks on and old link, it will still go to that page.

    Example:

You can use http://pabloconradphotography.smugmug.com or http://www.paulconrad.photography and go to my home page.

    Hope this helps.

Yep, that's the best way to go. Having your own domain gives you control - you may (hopefully not) decide one day to leave SmugMug. Having your own domain would allow you to redirect your links to a new domain and keep the SEO juice flowing while relying on smugmug sub-domain would result in all your link-bulding efforts going nowhere, essentially.

Another advantage of having your own domain is the ability to change to a new domain and, assuming that you keep the ownership of the old domain, redirect all your links from the old domain to the new one, keeping your online presence intact. Best of luck.
