The display screen for the uploader changed today. Did the mechanics behind the uploader change?

The uploader is very very slow.

I noticed the new uploder today also, but did not experience any degradation in speed.

Mine is much slower, and basically cripples the browser. Using Safari v9.1.

Its not just you, I'm having the exact same experience. It seems to visually update every 10s and in the background is still uploading much slower than previously. Meanwhile the browser won't respond either unless I can manage to open a different tab. Using Safari 9.0.2

Is the older uploader (or any of the older ones) still available, or did this new version completely overwrite it?

I contacted the smugmug help desk about the upload speed the other night. They said everything was working fine and that it must be must be my internet provider.

I am now in a different location and different internet provider and I am having the the same slow upload speed.

Old version was good, new version is not.

    Smugmug, please investigate this!

So I now think this is a problem related to Safari specifically. I'm running OS X 10.11.2 and just downloaded Chrome to see if it was a browser issue, since an ISP wouldn't explain why even scrolling would freeze.

Uploading in Chrome works totally fine, no problems at all.

So the help desk is somewhat right? It's not the uploader itself but its incompatibility with Safari at the moment.

The new uploader was thoroughly tested in all browsers, including Safari, prior to being released this week, but I've asked our QA and ops teams to look further into this. I'll get back to you all with our findings. Stay tuned...

Update: We've verified that Safari is uploading slower than the other browsers and can cause the computer to look up. Our sorcerers will be digging in next...

I forgot to mention that the fix for uploading in Safari was fixed a few days ago. Please let me know if you have any additional issues.

The Safari version seems to be back to its usual fast upload speed.

    Thanks! clap.gif
