Favicon changed

Just noticed that my favicon is no longer working correctly. It seems to have been replaced on folder & gallery pages with tiny versions of their respective featured images. This is not a desirable change IMHO, as a standard favicon is often a key element of branding.

I haven't done thorough testing, but this change seems to affect folders & galleries in Firefox, folders only in IE, and not Chrome.

FireFox and IE have an interesting "feature" (bug) in that they let certain metadata fields override the FavIcon. The icon we're specifying for customers to use as the App Icon on the new "Mobile Web Apps" is overwriting the actual FavIcon. We're currently looking into what options we have to fix this until IE and FireFox close the issue.

@leftquark: you may add Safari to that list of "weird behaving browsers" too.
To be more specific: Safari Version 9.1 (11601.5.17.1) on Mac OS X El Capitan version 10.11.4 - it has the same changing favIcon...

Chrome on the same machine seems to work just as fine as before.

    Good luck

Latest Firefox is overwriting my Favicon on a pc. Whatever they are using is so small it's ugly.

I'm seeing this too in FF. Edge shows NO FavIcon and Chrome is correct.

+1 in FF/Win7. The favicon changes depending on the gallery being displayed. At first I thought it was a new feature and was cool, but after a week or so of use, I'm less happy with it. As mentioned above, depending on the image, it can be unrecognizable at such a small size and the changes interfere with consistent branding.

Yes, all versions of FF have the bug (it's a FireFox bug). We're working on some changes to get around their issue. Stay tuned.

Lille, I can't reproduce the issue in Safari but I've asked the QA team to dig in deeper.
