My first dolichopid fly of the year and very luckily a flash resistant one allowing me many flash shots without flinching or taking off. All shots focus stacked using zerene.
5Dmk2/MPE-65/430Ex flash.

Yes they are one of the more photogenic species - if only they weren't so flash sensitive.
I've taken lots of photos of their legs as they disappear from the frame having been spooked by the TTL pre-flash

Yes they are one of the more photogenic species - if only they weren't so flash sensitive.
I've taken lots of photos of their legs as they disappear from the frame having been spooked by the TTL pre-flash :
