Cinnabar Moth - the stealth bomber moth...

Chased a cinnabar moth around the garden this evening to get some pics - started off in the grasses by the fence, then it flew upwards onto the underside of a clematis leaf (bonus aphid nearby) and then it dropped downwards and landed on the moss on one the rockery rocks, which gave me a couple of angles to work at. Then Bilbo the kitten came to investigate so I scooped the moth into my hand and gently set it away into the top of the clematis again away from our marauding Bilbo...

That red is like bucket of paint dropped on its wings!

Paul,
Good job.
I have had at least two in our garden for many days. They are waiting for flower buds to develop on the Ragwort to lay eggs.
If you are very quick you can catch them with their wings spread, just after landing.
