Palo Duro Canyon, TX - 6pics

Over the weekend, I went to Palo Duro Canyon in Western TX- apparently the 2nd largest canyon in the US after of course...
some pics -



It was a little cloudy, not great lighting - but good weather for a hike. Hiked a 6mile loop to a "lighthouse'"

On the way back, the sunset set pretty brilliantly to a good day's end..

Pretty cool!
My hubby's from Texas, the panhandle. He didn't tell me about this canyon. It's very pretty, love the colors. That was a nice sunset too! I thought the lighting was nice and soft, showed up all the "red" colors of the rocks very nicely. Looks like you had a terrific hike.

thanks Fred, Dee, Ann and Thusie ! Yes, Dee - it's in the panhandle area - about 15-20min from Amarillo, TX. I'm relatively new to the Southwest - moved from NY to NM 5mo back - so I've great fun exploring ! I was hoping it might snow a bit to give some white to the red and green but no such luck ! it was 70F !
