Bulk editing of dates to scanned pictures

This is probably not a exactly smugmug question - I have scanned all of my old paper photos - thousands of them and the metadata dates on them is the date I created the scanned image. Is it possible to (bulk) edit the dates so that i can get them into the right era so that when I am sorting by Date they appear somewhat in the correct order.

Thanks

Lightroom and other tools let you bulk edit metadata including dates. But you must do the editing before you upload to Smugmug. Once a pic is there, I'm pretty sure there's nothing you can do to bulk change the dates. Even if you replace the pics with edited ones, the SM metadata do not change. Instead you must delete the pics from SM and upload fresh copies with the altered dates.
