"Action on click" doesn't work

My home page photos were collected from various galleries at source. Under Content and Design, I chose "Go to Gallery" when clicked on picture. I'd have thought it will direct to the respective gallery but it simply appears in a Light Box display. Why it didn't channel to the gallery?

Hi Daylight
It does not execute what you said although thats exactly what I wish to.
I did an experiment by collecting 2 images from 2 diff galleries. The top first two left hand corner pic of "Aquarium" and "Pagoda". The rest were uploaded individually directly to the Home page as previously I didn't know abt the collecting function. If it execute what you just mentioned abv, I will redo my Home Page again by collecting fr various galleries. But lets focus on my 2 experimented picture before I rework.

When these 2 experimenting pictures were clicked, yes it opened in light box. When closed, it does not bring the viewer to the respective gallery. It goes back to the home page. Why is that so. Can you try clicking pls.
Another strange thing. Will the title be actually displayed in the Home Page. As I clicked on these 2 pics whilst experimenting, the title toggle between invisible and display. So shld it be displayed? I find it weird with title.
Tks for help.
Is it possible you're confusing your homepage (https://david-low.smugmug.com/) with your gallery called Home (https://david-low.smugmug.com/Home/)?
They look nearly identical, but the gallery has the title Home and the actual homepage doesn't.
On my site I use a full screen slideshow on the homepage. I wanted to give viewers a place where they can get a better look at the photos used in the slideshow. So I created a gallery called Background Photos and used the Collect feature to populate it. Then a visitor is able to see all the background photos in one place and see what gallery each one is originally from.
To reduce confusion, I'd suggest renaming your Home gallery to Homepage Photos or something like that and using only the Collect feature to populate that gallery.
Think you have described one step short.
I somehow hv figured out. When click on pic, it open up in light box. Than under the title is the relevant gallery name. When click on that gallery, it again open in light box. Only when we close that picture again, than the gallery appears.
Why not when click on gallery name, it shld display the gallery straight out instead of light box again. Kind of duplicating. Care to explain the logic?
Tks

So when you click on a photo on your homepage, it can't just go to the gallery because it would show all the photos in the gallery, not the one you want. The lightbox is the only way to show the individual photo in the gallery. It's confusing because closing it doesn't return you to the homepage but rather to the gallery where the photo is located. On your site, it's especially confusing because the homepage and galleries look so similar.

Ok,both of you brought to light abt home page and Home.
If I remembered (i could be wrong), during the transition from old smug to new smug (which I done it at least more than a yr ago), I populate the homepage style gallery into a gallery called Home (if I remembered the Home name is by default to create the current style) with photos NOT by using the collection feature but instead reload separate photos. Hence I encountered the problem as described earlier.
I hv now reworked my entire Home page by using the "collect" feature from various galleries. So I expect when any of the Home photos are clicked in my home page, it will bring the viewer straight to the respective gallery, at least not having the need to duplicate (meaning I hv to closed the light box twice) closing the light box (if you know what I mean by now).
Or have I entirely missed the point both of you have described.
I believed you guys know my intention and I hv re-read all comments abv and can't figure out how's done.
Tks so much and so much for my ignorance.
If you want clicking on the photo to go to the source gallery for that photo you should try using a Multiple Photos block using "photos I choose" instead. I just tested a multiple photos block with "photos I choose" and with the action on click set to "go to gallery" the viewer is taken to the source gallery.

Tks so much Denise, you hv been so kind always come to my rescue.
I hv configured "Recent" exactly the same way you described. As configurating this don't happened so often once everything is set more or less, I hv almost forgotten I did it before. All I remembered was the pull and collect function which I hv been using more often.
Ok, now I know the difference, will give it a try sometime later.
Tks again Denise.
Sorry its me again.
Am I right to say as per your above method, there is no possibility of organising the photos to rearrange the sequence after all the selection is made? I titled it "Testing" and this name does not appear under Organize. I tested out and it seems any adding on of photos at later stage will simply push to the bottom.
Tks again.
Hi Denise, think I hv figured it out. Tks for attending.
