I was just going to photograph a large Volucella hoverfly on a hebe bush when I heard an odd rustling noise- looked down and saw this wonderful dragonfly in the adjacent potentilla bush just by my right leg. I decided in the rather high wind we were getting at the time, the dragonfly took precedence over the hoverfly.
Natural light shots. 600D/sigma 105mm OS. Some shots have been focus stacked using zerene.
