What are everyone's thoughts on this soon to be released RAW editor?

This could cause a right stir in terms of the monopoly that Adobe currently have on all photo editing software for sale.

Bit hard to say until it gets released and we get a chance to use it.
Until then, it will be just opinion and conjecture.

That said, I have already pre-ordered it (so I guess I'm hoping it will be as good as the marketing suggests!!)
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you.

I encourage everyone to at least try new software and new software technologies as they emerge. The advancements of software can have a direct impact on workflow and results (good and bad).

Many companies have a short free trial period for the purpose of evaluation, which can make the purchase decision easier.

Affinity Photo also looks pretty good as an Adobe alternative.

Yes, it does. I've been using it for a few months now. Have to re-learn a few things but overall quite happy with their tool. As far as On1 goes, I've got many of their Aperture plug-ins and have been very happy with them, so hold out high-hopes for their RAW converter. I really like how On1 makes it easy to do complex masking and layering, such as around stray hair and such. Impressive.
