Meet Jerry. He's been playing guitar for 48 years.

He's tired of the anxiety related to concerts, and after 17 recordings he's tired of the perfectionism that studio recording brings. He decided one day to get a permit from the city, and plays at the north-west corner of Yonge & Gerrard Street, in Toronto.

"Don't ever do something because someone tells you to. Don't ever not do something because someone tells you not to. Do things for yourself, because that's all that really matters in this life."

We had a great conversation about life, and creativity and expression, (and he asked about how my photography career started, and that's how that quote came about, after I told him the university i'm at refused me into the photography program because of low marks.)

I've seen him around for the past 2 and a half years, living and studying here downtown. He's one of the "characters" that makes Toronto.

I finally got the intention to sit down and have a chat with him the other day. I had these prints done and gave them to him yesterday, and it made him really happy, though he said (and I quote):

"That's not me in the second picture. See? That guy's smiling. I never smile." (with a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth)
