I have posted many images here of insects feeding on the florets of the white umbel of the wild carrot. It remained in flower for many days whereas other wild umbelifers in my garden were over in about two days. These spiney structures are the dry fruits which contain the seeds The spines are on the D-shaped half, the back of this being flat with two longitudinal ridges..The fruits are about 7mm long, a bit big for the 6mm FOV of my reversed HM40 setup.
It is tricky to find photogenic groups of fruits amongst the massed hundreds. I have, therefore, included one group with a bit of gastropod slime on it. The stereo is crosseye.
Olympus EM-1, Kiron 105mm or reversed Schneider HM 40 + x1.5 TC, twin TTL flash, hand-held with some support from the worktop.
