sunflowers!

I was very lucky to hear about the sunflower fields at Colby Farmstand in Newbury, MA a week and a half ago - the web site now says:

SUNFLOWER FIELD HAS PASSED IT'S PEAK!! VERY LITTLE COLOR LEFT IN FIELD.

I found out about the fields in a conversation during a volunteer gardening stint on September 14th.

When we finished our work I headed home for my camera and immediately drove to Newbury for a walk in the sunflower field. Colby Farmstand serves an active local farm - lucky for photographers that the sunflower field is there for people to walk through.

For animal lovers there were also goats and ducks wandering around.

There was an old truck serving as a plant stand in front of the farmstand.

It looks like to got the most out of them considering the lack of color in the field, as you mentioned.

Good stuff, Denise. I particularly like #5 and #8.

Nice work, Denise. #1 is probably my favorite. I'd try reducing the exposure on 4 and 5--I think it might improve them.

Thanks Richard, #1 is my favorite too.

I will experiment with 4 and 5, thanks for the suggestion.

You're right, both look better with slightly reduced exposure. I've replaced the photos on my site, not sure what it will take to trigger dgrin to replace the images...

Unfortunately, the replace function on SmugMug doesn't behave as one would hope for external links. You need to edit your Dgrin post and put the new URLs in place of the old ones.

While I really enjoyed the sunflower field, other sunflowers in local gardens popped into my camera over the summer. I think I'll share a few of my favorites captured in the gardens of The Stevens-Coolidge Place too.
