Is the 'hide owner' setting in galleries detrimental to the www finding you? What identifying details is it hiding from public display?

Hide owner removes all traces of you. The gallery is displayed with a www.smugmug.com URL. It will not be found by a search for your work.

From the help page at Can I hide the account owner information for a gallery?

There are a few things this setting will affect.

1. Hide Owner will remove the nickname from your URL and make it completely SmugMug.
2. Your custom Banner will be replaced with the SmugMug banner. This will also remove all customization on the page.
3. Links to your homepage won't appear, only the gallery name will.
4. The watermarking feature won't be available while hide owner is active.
5. Coupons will not work while hide owner is enabled.

Just curious, why would somebody want that?

I suspect there are times when someone wants to share some pictures but doesn't want them to be associated with their site.

It seems a bit odd to me too, if I don't want something to show on the site I usually just make the gallery unlisted.

I have testing page and testing gallery unlisted and my family stuff isn't listed in the navigation. I thought I was missing something.
