Cali probably has one of the highest concentrations of street people of all the cities in Colombia at least in relation to overall population. This is due in part to the large number of people displaced by the war who have fled to the cities, in the case of Cali mostly from departments to the south and west. Many can't find work and end up living on the street. Hunger and misery are alleviated with "basuco" a dangerous and cheap by product of cocain production. A dose that lasts all day costs about seventeen cents. I don't know this man's story. He was was in Parque Caicedo in downtown Cali where many street people spend the day.
