Turkey Vulture gliding in Yolo Wildlife Bypass near Sacramento, Ca. There were two of them buzzing a field. This one circled me a few times, then glided and landed in the field searching for a tidbit. I still had the monopod attached and was trying to take the shot handheld in order to follow the bird - not an easy thing to do I found out!

Very nice point of view - looks like that would have been hard to catch!

Funny about the monopod - I have on occasion shot with a monopod collapsed but still attached to the camera. Sometimes it feels stable like that, sometimes not.

Thanks Denise. I've never tried leaving the monopod collapsed - it sounds as if it would be helpful for this kind of shot. The 150-600mm lens is so heavy. I'm gonna try it next time - thanks for the tip!
