Large Ichneumon wasp

I was surprised to find this Ichneumon wasp Amblyteles armatorius out and about in October apparently feeding or drinking on a variegated holly leaf. I gather though that the adults do overwinter.

A lovely find and excellent images. The last species whose mouthparts I expected to see in such detail!
