An Hour at the Nevada Northern Railroad

Ely, Nevada was just going to be a stopover on our way to Moab. We arrived early enough for me to drive over to the railyards to see what I could find. They were closed. However I met a man who said it was okay for me to wander around.

The fact that nobody was around added to the lonely feeling. This is an antique snow plow. All of these images taken with Canon 6d 14mm Rokinon lens.

When I got to the engine house there was a man there that said "I want to go home." I said please can I have ten minutes? He mumbled something that I took as an Okay. I could have spent hours in there.

This is still a working railroad. Tourist now, but all the "stuff" is leftover from the Kennicot mining operation once here.

Back outside again at the east end of their East Ely location. This image was taken with 24-105f4L lens at 65mm.

Nice work, especially in just 10 minutes. The desolation of the outdoor shots is intriguing.

Wonderful series at a very worthwhile stopover. I think you did great in the limited time available.

You created a very nice mood with these.

That's the kind of place where you can spend days with a camera.

    Nice set.

Wow! What a great set. The symmetry in #3 is really well seen, and that old Lincoln DC welder in #4 stirs up a memory or two.

My kind of place to be roaming around.

Thanks Anna Maria. This lens worked well I thought, especially with giant structures and machines - and wide open spaces too.

I've been to this NNRR location a couple of times. It does have a long-ago feeling with open spaces that I'm attracted to explore.

Thanks Eric. I love this lens! All the interior images were done at f16 2sec iso 100. I think I had the focus a tad under the infinity mark. Remote shutter 2sec delay, mirror lock-up. The outside shots: still at f16 1/350 sec iso 100.
