Change design template because of sidebar not pinned

Hello,
I'm almost finished building my site and I wanted to add just a small feature:
since I have a left sidebar for menu and navigation I thought it would be nice to pin it so it can't scroll down while body does.

Here comes the issue: I tried everything from checking the proper pin menu in "Entire Site" section to trying several css codes with no success.
The only thing is left for me to do is to try to change design template (from "Sierra" to ie "Dina") but before doing this I have to be 100% sure to keep, save or backup every single piece of my customization.

Here comes the question: if I would change the design template what Exactly will be kept and what will be lost of my previous work?

I understand is a pretty huge question but I can't afford in terms of time a check&rebuild process if the new design template won't fix the sidebar pin issue.

Anyone can give me info and/or suggestions?

You have your sidebars turned on in the 'all galleries' section so no pinning is possible.

Turn the sidebar on under 'entire site'. Then add your menu and you'll be able to pin the left section.

thanks for suggestion.
Unfortunately doing this way I won't be able to change nav menu content in relation of the page.
I mean on "Portfolio" pages I have two menu sections:

Still Life Travel Portraits

and

Prints About Contact

but in "Prints" they change into:

Still Life prints Travel prints Portraits prints

and

Portfolio About Contact

Setting the left sidebar in the Entire Site section will force me to have the same menus everywhere
So it won't works for my needs
