Portland Lighthouse

My wife and I took a trip to Maine and had to stop in Portland to see the lighthouse. A great place to see and well preserved.

I'm likely wrong but it looks like the top of the light house was exposure brushed down a level with the clouds expo.
But anyway gorgeous image! Amazing luck with such drama in that sky!!!

Nice shot and good choice of focal length to get the whole cove while standing behind the fence. Portland Head Light is quite near me as the crow flies, but about a 30 minute drive. It's the most photographed lighthouse in the world. I'd say you were blessed with a sky better than half of the pics out there. Thousands have gone there to get this picture only to be foiled by conditions. I'd delete the con trail if it were my image. Thanks for sharing.

This is a comp of the Portland Headlight that I've never seen, and I quite like it. Nicely done adding that foreground in there.

I'd say it's the most common angle from which to shoot the lighthouse, it's just that not everyone has a wide enough lens to capture the whole cove. There is a path that goes along the rim of the cove there, and a fence to lean on. It's one of the best and most obvious spots to view and shoot the lighthouse. A quick google image search shows tons of pics taken from the same spot.

Great sky certainly makes this image unique. Haven't been there in a while. Only about 90 minutes away. Might be time to head up.

I'm glad I clicked on the larger image to show the detail better. Very nice leading lines from the foreground to the lighthouse. Nice -- so peachy pink colors .

Beautiful shot! It is hard to get something different, so good job on accomplishing that! The first time I shot this was with snow on the ground but it was not a great shot. Have not been there in several years--need to meet up with @denisegoldberg
