Thank you all for the comments. It's a shot of part of a machine
used to grind corn or grain that was fed into a hopper. Silver Springs State
Park, near Ocala FL, has a collection of old buildings and tools
from Florida's "cracker" days. The gear system allowed an easy
turn of a small crank to turn the grinding part just like a geared
bicycle makes pedaling easy.
The entire machine was photographable, but this view was.
