Best monitor for editing pictures

My wife is looking for a good monitor to edit pictures on for her new Business. does anyone have any recommendation?

This monitor has pretty much the same specs as the one Mitchell notes above, but is priced under $800. A couple of us here at Dgrin are using it and very happy with it.

Joel I purchased that LG 31MU 97 you mentioned above, in December of 2014, and I am still using it, and quite satisfied with it.

The lack of a glossy screen surface was important in my decision. I strongly prefer matte screens to edit with. I use a Color Munki for calibration.

I don't know if it is the best, but it has certainly performed well for me.
