Change/Custom Dimensions of Header Background?

Morning all! Any chance you can change the size of the header despite the content? Essentially Id like to make the black border of my header much much smaller. nickjamison.com/stills. Thank you for your time!

I don't understand your question. I'm not seeing a black border on your header.

You can make a gradient like this:
