These birds are always in the trees around my house, constantly eating the berries. I have no idea what they are:dunno Their heads are kinda coned shaped, like someone combed their feathers back to a point.

Yep Waxwings, they are such cool birds! Nice shots.

Have you seen them when they all sit in a row and pass one berry down the line?

yup.. cedar waxwings!!! my favorite little birds!!!!

    some useless trivia...

the ones with the red waxy looking feathers on their wings (like in your first shot) are the males and the ones without the red feathers are the females! (like 2nd shot)

also... there are two types of waxwings. you tell them apart by the color of the feathers at the base of the tail (underneath.... on their birdy butt I guess?) Cedar waxwings like you have here, have white feathers..... Bohemian waxwings, those feathers are brown.

They are pretty little birds. I like your detail, combined with the soft light, which sets them apart from the background. Thanks for sharing, I now know more about Ceder Waxwings than I thought possible. When I run into one, I'll ask him to pass the berries please.

Thanks Steve. The feather detail in #2 makes it my personal choice also. I only wish i could have gotten his tail feathers in focus also.

    Eric,
I agree with Greaps thumb.gif I always look for these guys when I'm out. But here in the city they are a bit rarer. They sure are pretty huh?
