A resting bachelor Roosevelt elk north of Orick, Humboldt County, California, 24 December 2016. I plumb forgot to open up the lens but I like the result even with the somewhat busy background. Maybe because of the background. It gives a sense of how cryptic even so large an animal can be in its usual habitat.
