Early Autumn just before the leaves changed.
Star effect added to the sun peaking through the leaves, in post.

A very nice capture of this scene. I like the low point of view, but I'm a bit ambivalent about the added sunstar. I really like your other close up shot, with the detail in the rivulets, and the pool at the bottom of the falls.

I agree....it is wonderful comp and light and really like it....
However, if star was smaller and sharper...it might go well....also there are 2 flare elements....probably intentional, one on bushes on left and one on bottom right.....not sue either is needed...and if it can be gotten rid off....
Good job still!
I like the composition without the star. With the star my eyes are pulled away from the waterfall, and I don't think that is ideal.

Ah, now I see why you added the star effect. With the sun positioned and showing as a bright spot I prefer the version of the photo with the star effect.

Personally, I'd forget the star and clone out the sun completely. It's a stronger photo without it, and a darn good one at that.

Agree with Joel.....don't need that added attraction....strong photo as is!
...or crop out the top 20% of the photo as a 2.5:1 pano. The remaining upper glow highlights the waterfall without the distraction of the bright ball of light.
Let me go on record that I am not a hater of the Sun.

I have to agree, eliminating the sun by crop or clone is a good idea. It's a stronger image, imho, without the distraction of the sun.

David, I favor cropping the bright sun out of the top also. Much better image I think. I don't think I have a complete understanding of your feelings about the sun.............. living in the Windy City as you do.
While I like many black and white/monochrome images, I strongly prefer the color versions here. To my eye, this is about the variations in warm color tone, not a grey scale graphic image.
Of the two black and white images, I prefer the second. The first B&W seems dark and brooding to me, and the warm color tones don't convey that sense in the color images to me.
