Hey SmugMug friends,

I am planing to write a new customization post about a full screen layout that you can create on SmugMug. Before I write it - I would like to ask your opinion if you are interested in such design.

Main key of the design is that the landing page will have a full screen intro image with overlay text/logo and an animated scroll down icon encouraging your visitors to scroll down to see your content. Then some content like text and images.

You can test it here:

NOTE: The design has a top navigation - you can remove it or place it below the main image.

Let me know if you are interested and more votes/comments we get - I will write it up and post it on my portal.

Looks cool! Maybe make the animated arrows and icon larger? On Big screens, that part looks very small.

    David,

I am on a 5k - 27" monitor and the icon looks large enough. The code for the full screen top will include code for the scroll animation { icon} so you will be able to change its size.

Oh yes please! I need to do a complete overhaul and was just wishing that I knew how to do something very similar for my site.
I'm on a 27" monitor and the scroll icon looks good to me.

Do you have a tutorial on how you made your beautiful clean-looking galleries with large images and lots of space between them, or is that a trade secret? :)

    Hey Lori,

No it is not a secret :} I use a COLLAGE LANDSCAPE gallery style with these settings:

Let me know if you need a hand with this - I will help you set this up.

I should have a ready tutorial for the full screen layout soon. Stay tuned.

Wow don't I feel stupid haha, I never noticed those settings before! Worked like a charm, thanks Tom <3

Truth is, when SmugMug first switched to the new format, I was so burned out from teaching myself enough basic coding to customize my old legacy site (and spending the hours that it takes a n00b to do so on their own) that I threw in the towel once I got the basics set up on the new platform because it meant having to learn things all over again (and having to rewrite all of the code for my blog). And then I just got too busy to start digging into it. I really really appreciate all of the help and tutorials that you and others give with customization.
