does upgraded the version of ACR you use only add support for additional cameras and not change anything else?

I ask this cause when editing 300D raw files it says I'm using ACR 2.4... so I went to adobe and got ACR 3.2... and installed it.. and it still says ACR 2.4.. so I wondered if it displays whatever version of camera raw that camera was originally supported with?

:dunno

You didn't get the ACR .8bi file in the right folder Dani iloveyou.gif

    PEECEE friendly directions
To install the Camera Raw 3.3 plug-in with Adobe Creative Suite 2 or Photoshop CS2:

    1. Exit Photoshop CS2.
    2. Open My Computer.
    3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
    4. Navigate to Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats.
    5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
    6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as in Step 4.
    7. Launch Photoshop CS2 or Adobe Bridge.

    Mac Directions
To install the Camera Raw 3.3 plug-in:

    1. Exit Photoshop CS2.
    2. Open the Finder.
    3. Navigate to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats.
    4. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
    5. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw, from the download into the same folder as in step 3.
    6. Launch Photoshop CS2 or Adobe Bridge.

    OK?

AJ's is the same way!! his original version is ACR 3.0 but when he opens a D70 raw file it says ACR 2.4

so it must show the version used for that camera originally

I can send you a 300D raw and you can see what version it gives you?

No need. I am pretty sure Dani is using ACR 3.2, as per her screenshot, and everything is OK (blame it on Adobe for being a bit confusing). There are 2 things that Adobe track separately... the release version of ACR, and the version of each camera profile within ACR.

What Dani is seeing is the version of the 300D camera profile. It means that Adobe created the camera profile for the 300D when they released ACR 2.4 and they have not changed it since then. Other cameras (newer ones) might show up as a 3.0, 3.1 or 3.2 profile depending on when the camera profile was created or last revised.

Short answer is... don't worry, be happy. You are using the latest version :)

Yup, I have the same thing with my Olympus E-1. Using ACR3.3b, but the profile still shows 2.4. Very confusing, until I learned Adobe's weird number play.
enjoy being here while getting there
