Took these today with the Canon 18-55 with a reversed 50 1.8 on the end. Please tell me what you think.

Here's an iPod headphone. it really shows how limited the DoF is when doing this sort of stuff

Nice shots, especially the 1st and 3rd. The narrow DOF really works on the first.

Neat shots- good way to start with macro either reversing a lens or using extension tubes. Really like #3 - love the afterglow.

At 1.8 on my 85mm, with the nifty fifty reversed on the other end, my depth of field was approximately the width of a SINGLE LINE in the grain of an oak desk.

    Cool! :D

EDIT: I just actually MEASURED the DOF, and it works out to JUST under one millimetre.

Very impressive...I'm not up on reversing the lens on the other end.

Most excellent work. Very narrow DOF but the effect works well here.

Hi there Red Bull........Macro is a lot of fun, but not as easy as it looks is it.
I love your third shot...it's a beauty clap.gif I've done a few dead matches myself........never got one with a glow though like you did.
Don't you just wish the DoF was not an obstical when doing Macro?
Hopefully one of these days they will come up with a Macro lens that lets you get everything in focus that you want thumb.gif

Very Very Very good effort on your part :D Skippy (Australia)

Thank you for all the positive comments. It really is harder than I thought it would be. The slightest amount of movement really makes a difference. It's also hard to get it well lit. I was using the on-camera flash on my 20D (I don't have an external flash yet)
